Effects of Propanol on the Performance and Emissions of a Dual-Fuel Industrial Diesel Engine

The search for alternative fuels that can limit the use of traditional fossil to power internal combustion engines is one main tasks faced by both modern automotive industry and energy industry. This paper presents experimental tests a compression ignition engine, in which conventional fuel, i.e., diesel, was partially replaced with propyl alcohol, renewable biofuel. Studies on co-combustion diesel fuel propanol were carried out, share alcohol varied from 0 65%. research showed an increase proportion propanol, up 30%, resulted significant rate heat release pressure cylinder compression-ignition engine. Increasing content 65% delay time significantly shortened duration combustion. During 50% share, engine characterized maximum efficiency, higher than 5.5%. addition caused slight deterioration stability determined coefficient variation IMEP. study exhaust emissions has shown small causes nitrogen oxide emissions, while contributes decrease HC emissions. increased contributed carbon monoxide dioxide, reduction concentration soot
